WASANet and the Southern African Science Service Centre for Climate Change and Adaptive Land Management (SASSCAL) are currently developing a partnership agreement outlining the corner stones of the collaborations between the WASA research projects, WASANet and SASSCAL. Given the overlap and mutual interest, key aspects of the partnership agreement are:
- direct collaboration of WASA projects with SASSCAL and its research programme SASSCAL 2.0;
- joint activities in support of the SASSCAL Graduate Studies Programme ‘Integrated Water Resources Management’ including the joint supervision of students and specific courses complementary provided by WASA project partners;
- mutual support in efforts for improving science uptake by developing joint formats for an effective science – policy -dialogue, but also joint webinars for a greater scientific and public audience;
- developing an approach in supporting the availability, dissemination and sustainability of WASA data and results through the SASSCAL Open Access Data Centre (OADC).
Guided by Interim Executive Director Dr Budzanani Tacheba, Mr Kevin Stephanus (SASSCAL) and Dr Joerg Helmschrot (WASANet) are currently developing a work plan outlining joint activities and efforts in support of this partnership agreement for 2025/26. The agreement and its supporting work plan will be finalised and presented during the second quarter 2025.
