Visibility and Networking in the “Water Security in Africa” (WASA) Research Programme
The WASA programme consists of 7 jointly developed and co-funded research projects. They all aimed at contributing to strengthening Water Security in the Southern African Region. The programme’s Communication Strategy defines all aspects of effective science communication and will provide research-informed policy making, the basis for demand-driven research and a maximised innovation uptake over the course of the 4-year research programme.
The networking and transfer project WASANet aims to increase the visibility of the “Water Security in Africa” (WASA) research programme, to support the seven research projects in their networking with each other and with relevant stakeholders in Africa, and to effectively provide a sustainable utilisation of research results. The African and German scientific community, politics and the wider public in Germany and Africa shall gain access to information about ongoing research and progress, to results and research-based capacity building.
To achieve these objectives, a variety of communication channels are continuously being expanded. The central information platform is the WASA website. It provides comprehensive information on the research programme, project descriptions, current updates, and event announcements. Additionally, it allows users to subscribe to and access the WASA newsletter, which is published three times a year with relevant news, publications, and networking opportunities. An access-restricted members’ area on the website shall promote cross-project exchange and supports the development of synergies.
Through the organization of project and result presentations and sessions at relevant events, conferences and trade fairs, WASANet will foster the public’s access to the research programme and the 7 cooperative projects.
To ensure these communication channels are filled with current and relevant content, we welcome your contributions and suggestions. Submissions such as event announcements, reports on conference participation, publication lists, or updates on project milestones are particularly appreciated.
Thank you for your support!
