Join the first SeeKaquA webinar on open-source software for processing TEM and ERT data for aquifer characterization. The webinar will present established groundwater exploration methods and accessible data analysis tools that are widely used in Southern Africa.

The event is particularly relevant for geoscientists at all career levels, including students, Early Career Scientists (ECS), as well as senior professionals from academia, the public sector, and private industry.

Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) methods play an important role in improving groundwater exploration and management, making them especially valuable for strengthening water security and supporting sustainable groundwater development across Africa.

Speakers:

Prof. Dr. Thomas Günther, University of Freiberg, Germany
Prof. Thomas Günther is a German geophysicist known for his work in computational geophysics and inverse modeling. He is a key developer of the open-source framework pyGIMLi for geophysical simulation and inversion. He focuses on electrical and electromagnetic geophysical measurements and data interpretation with state-of-the-art inversion techniques.

Dr. Stephan Costabel, Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources, Germany
Dr. Stephan Costabel is an experienced geophysicist in the field of applied hydrogeophysics, with emphasis on using electrical and electromagnetic methods to investigate groundwater systems. His research supports the characterization of aquifers and subsurface flow processes for water resource management.
